When you’re a major high street retailer, having stability in IT is vital. But no less than 97 key IT roles at M&S were filled by contingent staff, when they should have been permanent. Taking the issue by the scruff, the major retailer set a target to make the switch within 5 months.
With the clock running, RTM immediately put a dedicated team on the case. Our flexible resourcing systems were spun up to full power. We called on close contacts in niche areas, to find the most elusive kinds of talent.
All this with a strict self-imposed schedule that would not only meet M&S targets, but beat them consistently. They wanted to fill roles in 8 weeks. We delivered in 6, on average.
On top of that, we energised the IT department’s employer brand, using flexible elements of an already-powerful consumer brand to excite candidates about being a part of it.
RTM was already providing talent to M&S, but demonstrated our real power in stepping up to a one-off challenge.
